Jio TrueConnect DLT Registration

How registration works on Reliance Jio's DLT platform in 2026: what the fee covers and when you pay it, the GST check that holds up payment, the annual self-certification, and what to send your SMS provider once you are approved.

Jio's DLT portal is TrueConnect, at trueconnect.jio.com. You register your business as a Principal Entity, wait for KYC approval, and only then pay. The portal shows the fee as ₹5,900 a year (₹5,000 plus ₹900 GST), payable by the Primary User from six hours after approval. The payment is valid for one year, and Jio sends a renewal reminder a month before it expires. After paying, you register headers, brands, templates and CTAs. Your Entity ID then works with every operator.

1. TrueConnect at a glance

Everything in this table comes from text that TrueConnect shows to logged-in users. We read it from the portal's production code on 29 October 2026, because the public pages show very little before you sign in.

2. The fee, in Jio's own words

Several widely read guides still describe Jio DLT registration as free, or as a one-time charge. TrueConnect says neither. Its payment screen reads: "INR 5,900/- (Rupees Five Thousand Nine Hundred Only) including GST-Tax". It follows that with: "the validity of this payment is one year and you will receive a renewal reminder one month before the expiry. Failure to make the payment will result in disablement of DLT services for the user."

If the subscription lapses, the portal says: "Your subscription to the TrueConnect account has expired, you are not allowed to do any Registration". Renewal is a separate "Entity Renewal" flow. Diary it at eleven months; the reminder email can land in spam, which the portal itself warns about.

The portal code also has a branch showing "INR 5,000/- (Rupees Five Thousand Only)" to SEZ GST registrations, which suggests SEZ units pay without GST. We have not seen it on a live account, so confirm with Jio first.

Two payment rules catch people out. First, "Incomplete payments will cancel your registration and invalidate submitted documents." Start the payment only when you can finish it in one sitting. Second, payment is blocked if your GST number shows as inactive on government records. Fix that before approval comes through, not after.

We found no header or content template fee anywhere on TrueConnect. The ₹5,900 is per entity, so a business with ten headers pays the same as one with a single header.

3. Documents and the GST check

The part of TrueConnect visible from outside the login does not list every document Jio asks for. What it does show is how Jio treats GST:

  • The registration form enforces "GST Document is required".
  • If the GSTIN is inactive, the payment step stops with: "As per Govt. of India, your GST Number is inactive and per Jio's compliance policy, you need to have an active GST Number or an alternate KYC document to be able to make Payment".
  • Existing accounts can be flagged later: "As per Jio's compliance policy some details (e.g. POI, KYC, etc.) are missing, request you to update the same." Until you do, some services stay unavailable.

Providers that register businesses on Jio list the business PAN, an address or registration proof (GST certificate, certificate of incorporation or similar) and ID for the authorised person. Treat that as the working list, and expect the registrar to ask for more if something does not line up. The legal name has to read the same on your PAN and on your GST record. Jio cross-checks GST, and a mismatch there is what most often delays payment.

4. Registration steps on TrueConnect

The order matters on Jio because payment comes after approval, not before. The screen names below are the labels TrueConnect uses in its menus.

  1. Decide who the Primary User will be. Only that login can pay, now and at every renewal. Changing it later needs a stated reason.
  2. Register the entity on trueconnect.jio.com with your business details and GST document, or an alternate KYC document if GST does not apply.
  3. Wait for KYC approval. Jio publishes no turnaround.
  4. Pay as the Primary User, no earlier than six hours after approval, in a single sitting.
  5. Register headers under "Header SMS Registration". For naming rules and suffixes, see our SMS header registration guide.
  6. Register your brand under "Brand Management › Brand Registration". Brands are linked to templates, and Jio will not accept a bulk consent upload until at least one brand is registered.
  7. Whitelist your CTAs under "CTA Whitelisting": every URL, app link and callback number your messages carry. Both single and bulk whitelisting are available.
  8. Register content templates under "Content Management › Content Template Registration". Our DLT template registration guide covers the wording rules.
  9. Bind your SMS provider as telemarketer in the PE-TM chain screens. Without this, your traffic is rejected (see section 6).
  10. Hand over the IDs (entity, header, template) to your SMS provider, and test with "Send Sample SMS".

5. Headers and templates on Jio

Most template rules are common to every operator. These behaviours are specific to TrueConnect:

  • Brand check. After validating your text, the template screen asks: "Have you inserted your brand/trade/legal name in the requested template?" A template without one is likely to come back.
  • Promotional templates are frozen. The portal notes that "Promotional Templates are not allowed to make any changes". To change the wording, register a new template.
  • Header validity. Headers can be registered as temporary with a chosen number of validity days, and the portal can convert a temporary header to a permanent one. Use temporary headers for short campaigns.
  • Variable counter. The form shows "Number of variables in your template content" as you type. TRAI's 2023 directions limit how many variables a template may carry without justification; Vi and BSNL draw that line at three.

On tag names: TRAI's 18 November 2025 Direction lists #numeric#, #url#, #urlott#, #cbn#, #email# and #alphanumeric#. Airtel uses the long forms and Vi and BSNL use short forms such as {#num#}. TrueConnect's public code does not show which spelling its template form inserts. Use whatever the form offers, and never type a tag from another operator's documentation. Our variable tagging guide compares the spellings side by side. An illustration of a tagged service template:

DLT templateillustration · TRAI tag names
Dear customer, your AvanceZone order {#alphanumeric#} is out for delivery today. Track it at {#url#} -AvanceZone

The link behind {#url#} must be whitelisted, or messages fail scrubbing even on an approved template. Unsure whether a message is service or promotional? Read transactional vs promotional SMS first.

6. After approval: self-certification, chains and your Entity ID

Annual self-certification. TrueConnect shows a notice under the TCCCPR Second Amendment. It says PEs and telemarketers must "self-certify annually", confirming their registration details and every header, content template and consent template registered under them. The consequence is stated plainly: "Failure to certify will result in the automatic suspension of Senders, Registered Telemarketers (RTMs), or their registered Headers, Content Templates, and Consent Templates".

PE-TM chain. Jio told users to register their Principal Entity–Telemarketer chains "well before 30th November 2024, else all your SMS traffic will be blocked". TRAI's deadline later settled at 10 December 2024. From 11 December 2024, traffic on an undeclared chain is rejected. If you change SMS provider, add the new provider to your chain before moving traffic.

Your Entity ID. MSG91's screenshots show it at the top left after login on Jio, and MSG91 reports that Jio-issued IDs begin with 120; Jio does not document either. See our Entity ID guide, and send SMS using PHP for where each ID goes in an API call. Optional extras: IP whitelisting for portal login, and Jio's public "List of PE & Headers on DLT".

7. Which operator portal should you choose?

Choose one portal only. The Vi and BSNL FAQs state that a Principal Entity registers once, with any access provider, and that the PE ID is unique across all access providers in India. If you are already approved somewhere, stay there. If you are starting fresh, choose on process rather than network:

  • Jio TrueConnect suits businesses with a clean, active GST registration that prefer to pay only once KYC is approved.
  • Airtel has moved to a new address under airtel.in/business. It checks your GST record and signatory closely and asks for quarterly header and template verification.
  • Vi (Vilpower) publishes approval targets and has a national phone line with an escalation matrix.
  • BSNL routes approvals through circle-level officers and describes its fee inconsistently.

8. Rule changes since 2023 that affect Jio senders

Jio's public code does not show a date on which it began hard-blocking untagged templates. Airtel announced 15 January 2026 plus 60 days, and Vi's manual says its logger mode is still to be scheduled. Assume enforcement is live and tag everything.

10. Getting help

Jio's only published DLT contact is jio.ISOMCCSupport@ril.com; quote your Entity ID or registration reference. Jio publishes no support phone and no scrubbing error-code table. If your provider shows a numeric code, our DLT error codes guide covers the public code sets. For the whole process, start at the DLT registration hub.

We can do the TrueConnect work for you. AvanceZone runs its own DLT-compliant bulk SMS gateway from Sulur, Coimbatore, and registers businesses on DLT as part of onboarding. We check your GST status before you apply, draft templates with the right tags, whitelist your links and bind the PE-TM chain. Local businesses can also see bulk SMS in Coimbatore.

FAQ

Jio DLT Registration: FAQ

How much does Jio DLT registration cost?
TrueConnect shows the Principal Entity fee as ₹5,900 a year: ₹5,000 plus ₹900 GST at 18%. We found no separate fee for headers or content templates on the portal.
Is the Jio DLT fee one-time or annual?
Annual. Jio's payment screen says the payment is valid for one year, with a renewal reminder one month before expiry, and that non-payment disables DLT services.
Why can't I see the payment option on TrueConnect?
Jio takes payment only after approval, and the option appears 6 hours later. Only the Primary User can pay, and an inactive GST number blocks payment until you fix it or upload an alternate KYC document.
How long does Jio DLT approval take?
Jio publishes no approval time. SMS providers commonly report 2 to 7 working days for an entity and 1 to 3 days for headers and templates; those are provider estimates, not Jio commitments.
If I am registered on Airtel, Vi or BSNL, do I need to register on Jio too?
No. A Principal Entity registers once, on any one operator's platform, and its Entity ID is unique across all access providers.
What is Jio's DLT support email?
TrueConnect's Contact Us panel gives jio.ISOMCCSupport@ril.com. The portal does not show a DLT support phone number.
What happens if I skip Jio's annual self-certification?
Jio's notice says failure to certify results in automatic suspension of the sender, or of its registered headers, content templates and consent templates.
Can I edit an approved promotional template on Jio?
No. TrueConnect states that promotional templates are not allowed to make any changes. Register a new template and switch to its ID once approved.
